Mobius and Mobius Institute

Mobius has helped thousands of people worldwide to master vibration analysis and shaft alignment.  We offer computer-based training products (in three languages), public and in-plant training courses (in five languages), and distance learning courses.

The Mobius head office is in Australia, located about one hour from Melbourne, in the south-east of the country.  Mobius is a small company of just seven people (four in Australia, three in the United States).  We have training partners in 22 countries (and counting) and we have OEM partners and sales agents in over 50 countries.

As of October 2007 we have customers in 84 countries from the biggest (and smallest) companies.  We have received State export awards in 2003, 2006 and 2007, plus Plant Engineering product of the year awards for iLearnVibration, iLearnInterpreter, and most recently, iLearnAlignment.

While there is one main developer of software and training material, many people have contributed greatly in the development of these products - and there will be on-going contributions by these and other specialists from around the world.

Jason Tranter

Jason Tranter is the founder of Mobius, and the main developer of the iLearnVibration, iLearnAlignment and Interpreter products (and more to come!), and the author of the vibration training course material and simulation software.

"If you have seen me speak at a conference, or during a training course, you will know just how enthusiastic and passionate I am about about vibration training.  For many years people have struggled with vibration analysis, never really gaining the results they desire, never really understanding the concepts and analyzer options.  Since 1999 I have been on a campaign to change that.  The self-paced courses and training products are practical and understandable.  It is fun to teach with them, and it is so rewarding to see people understand for the first time concepts that have eluded them for years."

Jason has been involved with condition monitoring since 1983.  He has written large scale vibration monitoring systems (on-line software, data collector software and automated diagnostic software) for one of the leading suppliers of such products for a number of years, and has written all of the user documentation for those products.  Jason has also delivered classroom training on vibration analysis and software products since the early 80's, and he has given technical papers on the subject at P/PM, Vibration Institute, IMC, VANZ, PdM and other conferences over the same period.

When Jason is not at his computer (or traveling the world) he is spending time with his two wonderful boys, James and Michael.

Jason Tranter

Georgina (Georgie) is the co-founder of Mobius and handles all financial matters relating to the Mobius business.  Georgie has been involved with the condition monitoring world for many years!

Gary Peterson is the Business Manager for the USA and Canada.   Gary joined Mobius in 2000 and provides sales and customer support.

Gary has been involved with vibration analysis for many, many years as a practitioner and trainer.  Gary also worked for a leading condition monitoring company for over 15 years, performing consulting and support functions.

Bill Kilbey joined Mobius in April of 2006.  Bill is our senior vibration instructor, and Bill is in charge of all North America courses.  Bill also travels far and wide giving courses in Europe, Asia, North and South America.

Bill Kilbey was most recently the Manager of Worldwide Training for Emerson Process Management, CSI. Bill was responsible for the development and delivery of all CSI Training activities and personnel. Bill had been in this role since 1997.

He received his initial vibration and reliability training while serving as a sound and vibration analyst in the submarine force for the United States Navy. After completion of his military service, he was a machinery reliability consultant with a large rotating machinery repair organization.

Bill has a wealth of troubleshooting experience in many industries including petro-chemical, pharmaceutical, wood/paper products, mining, automotive, food processing and general manufacturing. Bill has 10 years experience in teaching a variety of reliability related courses including balancing, alignment, basic and advanced vibration analysis, CBM software, Root Cause Failure Analysis and management focused courses.

Until June, 2005, Tony was a senior training instructor and service consultant with Emerson Process Management, Asset Optimization Division (CSI). Tony taught the basic, intermediate and advanced vibration courses, plus the balancing, modal/ODS and the Online Monitoring product courses.

Prior to joining Emerson (CSI) in 1998, Tony worked as a vibration analyst and group leader for Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. Tony has a mechanical background and an Associates Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology. He has 28 years of full time measurement, analysis and teaching experience, and he is Category III certified.

Tony now provides training for Mobius Institute in North America.

Lorne McMurray joined Mobius in May, 2007.  Lorne has years of experience in vibration analysis from his years at Kodak (where he worked with Tony DeMatteo) and as an independent consultant.  Lorne also has sales and management experience, and it is in this capacity that he joins Mobius. 

Lorne organizes the US training classes and handles inside sales.  Lorne's natural enthusiasm and his knowledge of vibration will ensure that all of our customers get the best solution to their training needs.

Imagin Honeychurch joined Mobius in October 2007.  Imagin has years of administration and sales experience, and she is responsible for coordinating all of the international training courses and certification exams. 

Imagin will also work with our International Sales Representatives to ensure they have the technical and marketing material required to meet our customer's needs.

Raelene Morgan joined Mobius in March, 2007.  Raelene handles all of our product and training course shipping requirements.  She has seen packages come and go to countries all over the world!
